The first time I visited St. Petersburg, Florida, I fell in love with it and felt like I was home. The Vinoy Renaissance Resort was a big part of that first rush of emotion. The salmon-colored Mediterranean-style beauty is a Marriott luxury resort that is an icon in downtown St. Pete. She has overlooked Tampa Bay, and life coming and going all around her, since 1925.
I’ve since made St. Petersburg my home, and when my husband and I walk around Beach Drive/Vinoy Park, I can’t help thinking that we’ve become a part of her history, just like the countless men and women throughout the last 94 years. So many changes have occurred around the Vinoy, sometimes at dizzying speed, yet she remains an anchor. A comfort. A reminder that we haven’t forgotten our history and a sign that we never will. It does the soul good.
In a dream-come-true scenario, I recently had a chance to participate in a styled wedding shoot at the Vinoy, organized by the highly talented Ailyn LaTorre Photography. I’ve followed Ailyn LaTorre for years, and when I found out she was having a workshop, I jumped at the chance to learn from the best. In fact, I excitedly said to my husband, “She’s going to tell me all of her secrets!” Then, when I found out that the second day of the workshop would be a styled shoot at my beloved Vinoy, I could barely contain my excitement. The two-day workshop and styled shoot not only met but went way beyond my expectations, and I’m very grateful to have been a small part of it. (I previously wrote about the classic blue theme from this styled shoot here.)
I’m sharing a few of my favorite photographs of the coral-themed wedding inspiration, including swoon-worthy floral arrangements! Make sure to check out the websites listed below of all the vendors who came together to create this magic!
